From cocktails to confidence building, Step Up has been busy taking pride in involvement around the country.

Step Up New York members and guests got together to celebrate summer with Cocktails for a Cause. The evening ended with fundraising goals exceeded and attendees inspired, and we couldn’t be happier.

In Chicago, Step Up supporter Beyond Clear Skin stopped by a Saturday teen mentoring event that turned out to be a huge success!

New York

Cocktails for a Cause, hosted by the Step Up New York Connections Committee was a fun evening of networking and philanthropy at Viktor and Spoils at the Hotel on Rivington. Over 75 supporters mixed and mingled over cocktails and were inspired to give in support of Step Up’s teen programs. We were thrilled to exceed the evening’s fundraising goal and welcome several new members to Step Up!

Chicago’s Young Luminaries and Pathways to Professions teens marked the conclusion of the 2011-2012 year on Saturday, July 14. Teens and mentors celebrated the graduating class of 2012 by discussing ways in which their Step Up Women’s Network membership will help them in their transition to college life and beyond, as well as practicing smart networking skills by running through common scenarios. College was a big topic of the day, as participants also participated in a game, with the assistance of their mentors, to help them prepare to pack up for college. Then, teens were able to hear from BeyondClear Founder Kalei Kekuna about her professional journey from Hawaii to California to New York. As the sponsor of the Saturday Teen Mentoring, BeyondClear then gifted each teen and mentor with a BeyondClear skincare system. Finally, our Step Up graduating seniors were each presented with an award marking their achievements and successes over the past four years. The day was a reminder that while their participation in Step Up’s afterschool and weekend programming lasts through high school, the skills, relationships and confidence they gained will last a lifetime.
